Speaking at SQL Saturday Iowa

Reading Time: 2 minutes

I want to cover speaking at SQL Saturday Iowa in this post. Because after nearly a decade of presenting it the first time I had ever spoken for a US hosted SQL Saturday.

Me and Sander presented our ‘Azure DevOps Duet’ session there. Which is a session we do together about using Azure DevOps with SQL Server.

I know a lot of other speakers have spoken a lot for US hosted SQL Saturdays. However, for reasons I explained in a previous post here this was my first time. So, it was a big deal for me.

In fact, it was such a big deal we made sure we put in some new material especially for this event.

SQL Saturday Iowa organization

I was impressed with how organized SQL Saturday Iowa was. Like other events they made sure the speakers did a sound check beforehand. Plus, the timing of our sound checks on the Friday was good for both me and Sander because it was evening time in the Netherlands.

Luckily, we avoided an issue with a delay before we presented our session.

First of all, I want to say a big thanks to the organizers of the event for allowing myself and Sander to co-present our session there. In addition, those who attended our session and Leon for being such a good moderator.

SQL Saturday Oslo

Currently the next Saturday we are due to co-present Azure DevOps Duet at is SQL Saturday Oslo. At the request of one of the organizers we will be doing something a bit different for our session.

All I can say is that we will be showing how Azure DevOps integrates with something else. Of course, you’re more than welcome to try and guess by leaving a comment below. If you’re close I will let you know.

You can view the full schedule in detail here.

Speaking at SQL Saturday Iowa

Final word

Like I said, I really enjoyed speaking at SQL Saturday Iowa. I really enjoyed it and would gladly do it again.

Of course, I hope it’s the first of many US SQL Saturdays I get to present at. Plus, other places around the world I have yet to present in.

Of course, if you have any views about this post, or guess what we wil’l be integrating Azure DevOps with, you are more than welcome to leave a comment.
